Robbery Defined by Utah Code

A person is guilty of robbery when he or she knowingly takes or tries to take personal property of another against the owner’s will, by force or fear, with intent to keep the property; or

Intentionally or knowingly uses force or fear of immediate force against an owner during the course of committing a theft.

This may be lifted to aggravated robbery if the following requirements are met:

Collateral consequences of Robbery Crime Convictions

Similar to other theft and property crime charges, robbery carries long-lasting effects on a person’s reputation.  A robbery conviction can follow a person for years, thus negatively affecting his or her employment options and personal reputation.

Therefore, it is necessary to find an attorney who can work towards eliminating or limiting these charges, thus preserving your current record.
