Utah Teen Faces Weapons Charges After Thwarted School Shooting

The incident happened at Fremont High School. A student saw that another student had a gun. The student told the resource officer, who confronted the teen with a gun. The incident led to the school being evacuated. The student who allegedly had the gun was taken into custody and brought to a detention center for juveniles.

The teen allegedly told police he planned to shoot a girl first and then follow that with shooting other students. Luckily, there weren’t any injuries that day. Sadly, the teen who felt angry enough or hurt enough to think of harming someone else is now stuck facing criminal charges.

The boy has been charged with possession of a firearm in a restricted area, possession of a weapon with intent to assault and possession of a firearm by a minor. This teen has some very serious charges against him. He deserves the right to present a defense against those charges. He has the right to understand the charges and work with the court to get the help he needs.
